Tom and Anne Gnizadowski's Personal Statement Reasons for running for the board: We ran in hopes of making a difference- to help MPS families cope with raising an MPS child and to help shape the direction of the society. We want to give something back to the society in return for what we have received from the society.
Committee and Board Responsibilities: Fundraising committee 2007 Annual fund drive chair 2007 National Walk/Run co-chairs Family support committee Society Fundraising Activities: Five annual Run/Walks "Dash for Danny" events raising over $100,000 for research Five annual MPS Spirit Days at our daughters school raising over $4000.00 Participated in "Cash for Your Cause" event at local shopping mall-took first place prize of $5000.00 Participated in Fundraising session at 2006 family conference encouraging families to host an event in their community Personal Interests and Hobbies: Camping, skiing, and spending time with friends and family Family: Daughter, Sarah, age 12 Son, Danny, passed away from MPS II in August 2005 Education and Profession: Anne: BSBA University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio. Purchasing Manager for a manufacturer of visualization systems. Tom: BSBA University of South Carolina, Controller for a computer networking company. Community and Volunteer Activities: YMCA Adventure Princesses Father/Daughter program Assistant Coach for the girls volleyball team at Sarah’s school Personal Impact of being on the board: Our primary purpose of serving on the board is to assist the board in achieving the society’s mission of supporting families dealing with MPS and finding a cure for all MPS and ML disorders. We want to increase awareness of the society’s family support programs and increase participation of all members in society programs, conferences, and fundraising events.
