Ernie and Debbie Dummann's Personal Statement

Ernie and Debbie DummannErnest & Debra Dummann, married with two sons, Sean and Trent, who both received special education services from the Anchorage School District.
Sean is affected with a Mucopolysaccharide disorder severally affecting cognitive and mobility, functionality, and Trent suffers from dyslexia and needed special education services.

Owners of du Alaska Company, Incorporated in the State of Alaska since 1972, responsibilities for approximately 1 million in industrial sales yearly. Other responsibilities include the day to day operation of the corporation, budgeting, and fiduciary responsibilities to the share holders. Entrepreneur interest includes the manufacturing of a submersible heat trace system used throughout Alaska and Canada for freeze protection.

Community Involvement

1982 â€" Named Shop Steward of the year, Teamsters Local 959 Anchorage Alaska.

1984-1985 Elected President for the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Alaska Chapter.

1985 Nominated Engineer of The Year, by the National Engineers Week Steering Committee, State of Alaska.

1991 Granted the Grade of Member, to the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers

1991 â€" 1997 Appointed by Governor Walter Hickel, State of Alaska to serve as a member of the Governor's Council on Disabilities and Special Education as a Parent Representative.

1992 â€" 1993 Chaired the Governor's Council on Disability and Special Education, Alaska’s Special Education Advisory Committee and the Interagency Coordinating Council for Infants and Toddlers with Disabilities in the State of Alaska.

1997 â€" 2000 Re-appointed by Govern Tony Knowles, State of Alaska to serve as a member of the Governor's Council on Disabilities and Special Education as a Parent Representative. Chaired the Legislative and Budget committee.

1999 â€" 2000 Chaired the Governor's Council on Disability and Special Education, Alaska’s Special Education Advisory Committee and the Interagency Coordinating Council for Infants and Toddlers with Disabilities in the State of Alaska.

2001- Elected Board of Directors, Instrumentation, Systems Automation Society, Anchorage Chapter.
2003-2006 â€" Elected Secretary, Instrumentation, Systems Automation Society, Anchorage Chapter.

1999-2006 Elected to the Board of Directors of the National MPS Society. The Society is incorporated in the State of NY and has member in all 52 states. Assets of the society have exceeded 1M by year end 2004.

2001-2003 Elected as Vice-President of the National MPS Society
2004-2007 Elected as Treasure of the National MPS Society
2007-2008 Elected as President of the National MPS Society

• Recipient of the 2000 Grace & Aaron Wolf Memorial Award-given to an individual for the advancement of the rights and dignity of individuals who experience developmental disabilities. Advocacy Award, Presented by Hope Community Resources, State of Alaska.
• Recipient of the 2001 Movers Award, Presented by the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority, State of Alaska
• Recipient of the 2006 Outstanding Membership award, Presented by The National MPS Society.
